Subtek: How long have you been in a relationship with House and/or Techno?
Barbuto: I started consciously looking for house and techno events in 1999 and started making music in 2008 Subtek: What do you like doing before / after a show? Barbuto: I like to hang out with friends, go for a bite to eat and then go to a bar or another club before a party. After the show I am always wanting to hang out for an hour or so after playing but I tend to be tired so I usually escape to bed pretty quick, LOL. Subtek: What would you like to accomplish this year, professionally and/or personally? Barbuto: Well, I really want to play in Europe for my first time which is looking pretty good with some potential dates on the calendar and do a couple of big releases. On a personal note, I want to work on meditating and staying relaxed. Subtek: What do you do for inspiration / motivation? Barbuto: I am naturally inspired and motivated. I have been DJing as my only source of income for 10 years now and don’t think I could do anything else so I am motivated to DJ and produce just to keep this lifestyle going which is so much fun. I am however, constantly being inspired by so much amazing music that is always coming out. Subtek: If there is one thing you know now, and could tell your younger self, what would it be? Barbuto: Start producing music now and be patient. Subtek: What's one of your favorite places you like going to for vacation? Barbuto: Australia is my favorite place. My family lives there and it’s really nice to visit as well as to DJ there. They have a truly amazing music scene. Subtek: How has your music / style changed over time? Barbuto: It gets more refined the older I get and I get pickier and pickier. I really try to find music to play and make that will sound good 10 years from now. Subtek: Do you have a dream project? Barbuto: Yes, I’m doing it right now. Subtek: What are you trying to communicate with your art/music? Barbuto: Modern positive motion. No frills. Dark but fun and easy to translate. Subtek: Which South Park character do you relate to the most? Barbuto: Hmmmm Stan! |
